Cuts to the Perimeter There are four cuts to the perimeter that we want made. They include an inside cut to the baseline, a cut to the basket, a cut away to screen and a cut away and come back to replace yourself. These cuts are almost always made by the player who has just passed the basketball. We do not want cuts that move toward the ball after a pass because it creates too much congestion. We use perimeter cutting more against man-to-man dfense than we do against zone defense. However, we do use the replace yourself cut away against zone defense.
